An original painting of the tiny 14th century chapel of St Mary's, Lead, North Yorkshire. The chapel stands in the middle of a large field close to the site of the vicious battle of Towton, in 1461, during the War of the Roses. The isolated peace and quiet of the site today hides the carnage of the past, but I hope my painting captures the sense of brooding that I felt during my visit. Painted in mixed media (pen, ink wash and oil pastel) on quality Bockingford 300gsm paper. The painting is supplied un-mounted and un-framed and will be sent rolled in a postal tube. FREE postage to UK purchasers.
