Every so often a scene lends itself to a different paint medium than that I would usually use. I chose to paint this close up of an inlet in the rocks in acrylics so I could take advantage of their buttery consistency to build up the layers and create a textural feel on the rocks. This piece is based on St Martins, one of the beautiful islands off Cornwall known as The Scillies. I have only been fortunate enough to visit The Scillies once but aim to return very soon as they are such an inspiring place for any artist. The sea really is crystal clear and a stunning turquoise colour.
I have painted this on a semi-deep edge canvas and the edges are painted in a soft green
acrylics and 100% cotton primed canvas
