The latest in my series of pop art food paintings is an extreme close-up of some sprinkles (or 'hundreds-and-thousands' in the UK) sat on some raspberry ripple ice cream. The background is the subtle off-white and pink colour of the raspberry ripple ice cream and the sprinkles themselves form an abstract pattern on the outside. Each side of the block canvas has one sprinkle on it, making the whole canvas an art object rather than just a flat painting.
I love painting food in a graphic, pop art way so that the items become abstract and pattern-like. So you can appreciate this painting for its subject matter or you can just enjoy for the colourful abstract pattern it creates.
It is painted in acrylics on a heavyweight, medium grain stretched canvas. It's fairly miniature and so would probably look best alongside some of my other paintings. The second picture of my holding it gives you a good idea of the size.
6 inches x 8 inches
15 cm x 20 cm
Roughly 0.8 inch or 2 cm thick.
I've been inspired to create work like this by classic pop artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Patrick Caulfield.
Postage will be first class and tracked in a cardboard box and the painting will be wrapped in bubble wrap.
