Beech trees on a ridge, Wales in spring. Countless wild flowers - bluebells, wood anemones, red and pink campions in light and shadow, hartstongue ferns and tiny violets. There is a light breeze, the odd jay, nobody here.
I have drawn these woods often, and I have sat here over several days painting them too. I use layers and layers of small brushstrokes to convey a sense of shimmering light and calm.
