Original artwork description:

While traveling home from a trip to Newcastle upon Tyne I stumbled on this scene along the Quayside. A handful of small boats and a group singing suitable folk songs to those on the river bank.
A cool late afternoon sun had started to dip towards the west with the light adding a glitter and sparkle to the surface of the water.Sketches made on the spot and a follow up visit to the Quay to paint in the bridges provided the structure for the scene playing out in the foreground.
