I've painted a series of scenes depicting the flooding last winter affecting Somerset, close to where I grew up. The Watercolour medium, without the obvious pun, seemed well suited to capture the destructive yet sometimes beautiful scenes of reflected light on water and looming cloud. Large washes and drybrush were used to create these effects. The paper I use is made at St Cuthberts Mill, Wells, close to where the flooding happened and victim to it in the past.
