Hand embellished using individual silver stud embellishments giving a lovely shine that catches the light from different angles.

This painting was inspired by my interest in other cultures and ancient civilizations, in particular the Aztecs, and their fascination with both the sun and the moon. Adopting geometric symbolism, the triangle represents solar energy, harmony and ascension and, along with the pyramid shape of the studs, this mirrors the Pyramid of the Sun at Teotihuacan. This pre-Hispanic site in Mexico is still visited by thousand of people every year during the Spring Equinox where the defining ritual is to stand at the top of the pyramid, with arms outstretched facing the sun in the morning on the eastern horizon. Many come because they believe they are following in the footsteps of their ancestors, in asking the gods for energy and health on this day. At the point of the equinox man is at a unique place in the cosmos, when portals of energy open.

Framed in a 49mm Matt Black/Silver frame - solid wood reverse sloped matt black frame with a silver foil inner edge. Crystal clear 2mm acrylic glazing. Shatter proof and 20% clearer than glass. The painting is signed on the front and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity attached to the back of the frame. The frame is complete with an acid free double mount and backing board, which protects the artwork.
