Artist's description:

Damien Hirst said "It's very easy to say, 'I could have done that,' after someone's done it. But I did it. You didn't. It didn't exist until I did it." Artists will always be attacked for using the ideas and sometimes reimagining the actual artworks of other artists. Damien was accused of stealing the beautiful mathematical design of "True Daisy" by Robert Dixon created in 1984, but in reality Damien created something new in a new context and in a new form.

In the spirit of appropriation is have painstakingly redrawn the "True Daisy" and applied it to my latest obsession, PokekmonGo. The geometrical design seemed a perfect fit for the large, round and powerful Snorlax, hard to beat in battle and i would imagine, too tired of the arguement to even acknowledge the haters.

Part of a series of large monochrome this work is hugely detailed, and taps into both our obsession with iconism and the stories which often lay just beneath the surface. It considers the excesses of the ultra feminine and ultra masculine and challenges our views on the sanitised characters created for family consumption.

Hand drawn then digitally tweaked, my artworks are plot-cut and then assembled by hand, uniquely bridging a gap between tradition processes and digital art.

The finished artwork is created from layers of Avery 800 plot-cut cast vinyl on bright white matt 300gsm paper. Supplied ready to frame.
