Slide is a monotype print created using a reductive method. First, a layer of black etching ink was rolled out onto a plexiglass plate. The image was then created by wiping away the ink, drawing into it, and carefully removing top layers of ink to create value. Once the image was completed, a sheet of dampened printmaking paper was laid over the plate. The plate and paper were run through a press, and the ink was transferred to the paper.
Because the image existed solely within the layer of ink, only one full print was pulled from the plate - a monotype.
