Artwork description:

An oil painting of a fierce redhead against light blue background: a siren.
In Greek mythology, the sirens were dangerous female creatures. They lured sailors with music and songs to shipwreck on their island. In Homer’s Odyssey, the hero Odysseus blocked the ears of his crew with wax and had himself tied to the mast of his ship to resist their temptation. Red is often seen as a dangerous color. So my Siren is a dangerous, alluring redhead set against a cool blue background.

This oil painting of a woman in profile is a handmade, unique artwork, signed at the back. It is painted on linen, using artist grade oil paints, media and varnish. The painting is composed of several overlapping layers that work together to create a three-dimensional effect. You can find more detailed information on my painting method including a few examples of successive paint layers of a painting in the 'Me at work' section of this website.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
