I saw this lady when I was working with tribal people in Orissa. When all the others were crowding around me, complaining about their problems, she was standing at the corner. Silent. With an uncertain smile hovering over her face. She was not sure whether to approach, whether her problems were important enough for the powerful people to know. I saw my innumerable fellow country people in her face. The people who are too vulnerable but too humble to place their demands. So I named this painting 'Silent Cry'
