Side Alley in Blue and Green: Oil on cardboard, 40 cm by 50 cm, June 2004. Alleys are somehow comfortable and cosy, even blind alleys are. As soon as I think of a cul-de-sac I ask myself if there is the chance to somehow get on at the dead end. I then imagine I would ring at the door of the last house and ask people if I could climb through their window. This idea proves that in this situation I want to get my own way. It would be much easier to go back the way I have come.
