I have just finished this painting within the past few days. Seeing as we are moving out of summer, I thought that a title incorporating the autumn equinox had a certain ring. However I already have another painting entitled 'Equinox', so I picked the Japanese word for the title instead.
'Shubun' is a bright and sumptuous abstract on silky linen canvas. It is highly textured like my other works and contains egg shell, gold leaf and purple chiyogami paper from Japan. The bright colours suggest the colourful leaves associated with this time of the year, vibrant yet fading as is the light as we near year's end in the northern hemisphere. The circles suggest the constant turning of the year from one season to the next.
A medium-sized painting measuring 50 x 70 x 4cm, it would suit a space above a desk in a home office or would liven up a neutral wall in your home.
The sides are painted and the back is fitted with D-rings so it ready to hang.
Each purchase comes with a hand-made card by the artist, a small work of art in itself.
