This transparent viscosity aquatint print combines two specific techniques. A zinc plate with 16+ acid-etched layers and blended lithographic oil paints with specific consistencies to promote viscosity when hand-rolled over the plate using large inking rollers. Printed onto damp archival BFK Rives 400 gsm paper on a traditional etching press. Printed by hand in a single pass of the etching press and one-of-a kind. Unique to the Strata series is the addition of my own signature "Transparent Aquatint" technique, which exhibits both the shadow play of the aquatint medium with the added visual interest of seeing through each shape and layer presented.
The print is shipped flat in an archival plastic envelope and then placed in a specially constructed box protected by cardboard and hard plastic to prevent punctures. It's further protected by bubble wrap set inside another box.
Signed front (pencil), back (archival ink) and accompanied by Certificate of Authenticity.
