Artist's description:

Part of a series of black and white portraits of actresses from the 1960s and 70s, concentrating on the notion of non-celebrity, where the image encapsulates the work of the actress rather than just her beauty. I wanted to paint the images large and confronting to create a sense of awe and to paint them in black and white to conjure a time past but also to highlight the relevance of this when compared to those portraits of actresses today that concentrate on sexualising. This is about the beauty of the actresses' work.
