Artist's description:

The heron in this painting is a spiritual representation for all nature, universal metaphors such as the cycle of life and the passage of time. The leaf/spiral patterns are inspired by Early American wall stencils. Their placement in the landscape /abstract setting juxtaposes interior patterns with exterior patterns found in nature, creating a spiritual melding of our internal and external selves. The circles in the background signify this unity.
