This picture is 'painted' with an iron… Bonkers but true….! A mesmerising fantasy landscape, painted in a vibrant jade and blue blend, using hot wax, and an iron. Amazing colour, depth and texture. The painting 'fixes' as the wax cools. Completely one of a kind, original and unique.
This picture is A4 in size (28cm x 20cm), painted on encaustic paper and sealed with a specialist encaustic sealer.
Mounted in a white core double white mount using acid free tape, with white core backing board. Mount measurements are 35.5 x 28 cm, wrapped in a protective clear cellophane bag, ready to frame.
The picture is signed and dated on the back, and on the backing board.
I am always asked "Will it melt?!" My wax paintings have survived many summers in my studio, which is an old converted Dutch Barn, it gets HOT up there…! I've been monitoring the heat on our rare British summer days, one particular day this year, my studio inside reached approximately 50 degrees centigrade / 120 fahrenheit.
Beeswax has a melting point starting at 62 degrees centigrade / 144 fahrenheit, and my wax has a damar resin added to it, to raise the melting point higher than that.
So, I can confirm this painting will not melt at any normal room temperatures, but like any valued art, should not be hung in direct sunlight.
I hope you like it. I will ship it to you securely packaged, beautifully wrapped and I always include a little added something to the package, just to make you smile… :)
