Artist's description:

Tempera grassa painting from live model. I used pure, high quality pigments (cadmium yellow, vermillion, scarlet red, phtalocianine blue, raw sienna, raw umber, titanium white). The medium was composed from egg yolk, purified linseed oil, dammar varnish (diluted 1:3 in rectified turpentine) and a few drops of castoir oil and essence of thyme as preservatives. The panel was primed using the traditional chalk and rabbit skin size.

Due to the plywood board, the ground displays horizontal craquelure reminiscent of Medieval panel paintings.

Materials used:

pure pigments, ground in tempera grassa medium made in the studio
