I have a passion for old black and white photographs especially if they are of unknown people and unusual situations. An intriguing glimpse into the persons life at that moment in time. I use many of these photos for inspiration. We really don't know much at all, we just see the surface and a very small part of their lives. In my new collection of over painted photographs, I have taken elements from an original photograph and painted directly over an enlarged copy printed on Kodak photo paper. The oil painted surface is unique to each work and I hope emphasises that we are really only looking on the surface of any image old or new. Perhaps we only know a tiny amount about everything we see.
