Artist's description:

An 1880s dictionary is the 'canvas' for this celebration of the sea and of the work of mariner and painter, Alfred Wallis.

Block printing, painting and sculpture with found objects and drift
wood that I collected from Devon and Cornwall's beaches are combined in this work of mixed-media assemblage, which echoes my love of the coast from Start Point to St Ives.

Each book is secured to a wood base and comes with picture hooks. Your Speaking Volume will hang like a normal picture frame. The front of all Speaking Volumes are protected with a varnish.

Materials used:

book, wood, paper, mixed media materials, printing, painting.
