Mixed media on Canvas: acrylic paint, plaster, sand (from Meadfoot Beach, Torbay) and metal leaf
This is part of a new series of square abstract paintings I have been working on this summer, focusing on my thoughts and textures around standing on the beaches around where I live in South West England.
Meadfoot Beach is close to my home in Torquay and where I have spent many an hour (at all times of the year) skimming stones and beach-combing with my partner.
I have added plaster to thicken the paint and add texture and life to the foam fizzing on the shore, which is created with sand collected from the beach itself. I have also used gold metal leaf within this painting, as it captures the light and adds a real shimmer to the piece. Due to the materials used, this painting changes with the light of the day.
