This painting is partly influenced by the work of Richard DiebenKorn as well as that of and earlier marriage of artists, Sonia and Robert Delaunay. With the later I enjoy the indelible compositions of arches and bows as shape and colour abstractions appear in the form s individually but also in a simultaneous style of fusion.. In the work of DiebenKorn I am fascinated by his elegantly sensitive plaints of colour and space.
My painting, 'Salubrious Winter Landscape,' bears a strong reference to technique and mark-making as well as colour and shape and transforms visions and feelings of Welsh landscape on a indifferent rainy late winter day into watery and opaque modes of expression.
A synaesthetic response to a venerable subject.
