Roosters are one of my favourite birds to paint, who wouldn't love their vibrant personalities! I love capturing them in intimate detail, with focus on the face and eyes. And their oh-so-gorgeous combs and wattles. This rooster is painted completely with a palette knife, which means there is no brush used in this painting. Paint has been applied in thick loose strokes with the knife, thereby creating very interesting texture. I have kept the background muted so that the subject really pops.
My rooster paintings will have great presence when combined and hung together. I kinda envision them like that in my head, hope you like them too.
