This is a portrait of Hedy Lamar. Not only was she a huge Hollywood icon during the 1930's and 40's, she was also instrumental in devising frequency-hopping, spread-spectrum technology. Initially this was used to prevent torpedoes being "jammed" by radio frequencies during the Second World War but is still an integral part of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology.
