The cheerful Robin is a traditional Christmas symbol.
"Robin" was the nickname of the postmen in red uniforms that delivered Christmas cards in Britain in 19th century.
A story about how the robin got its red breast. Christ was dying on the cross and a little bird flew to him. The bird tried to remove the thorny crown and help him, but it was not strong enough to do it. In attempts to pull the thorns a little bit of Jesus’ blood stained the bird’s breast.
