Artist's description:

My inspiration for this painting was a 19th century sepia French photograph taken in the forest of Fontainbleau. I wanted to paint it as a night scene with a full moon. The underpainting was a glaring yellow and red. You can see the colors coming through in the sky, a little bit,and I think this adds to the slightly eerie quality of the work.

Materials used:

high quality acrylic paint and glaze, sides of canvas painted black
