Artist's description:

This work is inspired from my previous series of works - "Threads" and "Deconstructed"...the shapes of tailoring patterns and text comes through and again starts to create large figures within the work. I have always loved the work of Cy Twombly, Jean Michel Basquiat as well as de Kooning but continued to create harder edged geometric works when I was working with acrylic and textile. Over the last year I have been exploring my own style but using acrylic paint. That graduated to oils, particularly oil sticks which eliminated the need for paintbrush. Having the direct contact with the canvas with this oils that are the quality of lipstick and using my fingers and entire hand really freed up the mark making and enabled me to now create these works with really interesting texture and mark-making. "Rise of the Machine" is created with high quality oil paint on a gallery wrap canvas it is framed in a simple raw wood frame and ready to hang.

Materials used:

Oil paint
