Original artwork description:

This is the latest in my 'discontinued' range, a series of paintings exploring the theme of discontinued foods, retro tech, and vintage design. They were originally completed for display at an art gallery in Hackney Wick.

Ricicles was a beloved breakfast cereal for UK kids that was sadly discontinued in 2017 in an effort to reduce sugar in breakfast cereals. Whilst that's probably for the best, I loved the cereal when I was younger, and the amazing graphic design of the box was a part of that. It featured a spaceman called Captain Rik flying through a galaxy. For this painting I wanted to simple recreate the box in a size and shape that matches the actual box itself.

The end result is a small canvas that would brighten up any room in the house, but would probably look best in a kitchen. There's a picture of me stood next to the painting and another from the series included, to give you an idea of the size next to a person.

Size -
28 x 35 cm (1.5 cm thick)
11.2 x 13.7 inches (0.5 inch thick)

Painting is signed and dated on the back frame of the painting.

My style of painting and illustration is heavily influenced by classic pop art like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, modern day graphic design, kitsch, and everything from cartoons, animation, and food packaging.

Materials used:

Acrylic Paint, Paintbrush, Posca Pens
