Remembrance for the Little Masters is another funny painting that is a bit difficult to explain or verbalize. The title came spontaneously because of an association with a color combination that in my mind relates to Holland. In fact it has little to do with the Little Masters that used totally different palette. However it makes fun of the spirit of the petty bourgeoisie and its values, which in this painting are strongly shaken - once by its style in general and second for we see how disturbed and stressed the characters are. It is impossible to guess what exactly has frightened them but we could suppose that could be even our presence, in other words the Presence of the Other.
