Artist's description:

This painting can be displayed vertically or horizontally.

The Allegory of the Cave is a parable used by the Greek philosopher Plato in his work The Republic to illustrate that the world we live in is--metaphorically--a play of shadows on a cave wall. Release from the cave depends on our awakening to this false reality and "turning around" to see where these shadows are originating. When this Truth is finally discovered, we begin our journey outside of the cave of shadows into the Light.
