This piece started out so differently than how you see it. I knew what I wanted but felt frustrated in the process. The more I painted to more realistic it became which was far from intention. Then in a moment of shear frustration I grabbed a brush and globbed it with paint (a completely different color than a skin tone) and slapped it on the rider's face to almost erase it. What happened? That stroke excited me. I thought, I'm on to something. So I went with it. It evolved to what it is now. My all time favorite horse pieces.
