I love the reflections you see in people's eyes. A snapshot of the world beyond and a glimpse into something that has captured someone's attention. For this piece I made the reflection very much the focus of the work, almost completely taking over the eye, with just a hint of the iris underneath. It gives the eye an other worldly quality whilst still retaining its incredible power to draw the viewer in.
I worked in oils, using brushes and palette knife. I mixed thin layers that I allowed to run down the canvas together with thicker paint, often straight out of the tube and worked on the canvas surface.
