View South from Red Point
oil on board
Original painting in oils on board – looking across the water to the Applecross Peninsula.
The two beaches at Red Point are pretty special, with some of the best views to the Western Isles. The reddish colour of the sand comes from Torridonian Sandstone, some the oldest rocks in the world, from which the surrounding mountains are formed. Sitting on the Atlantic Ocean between Lochs Maree and Torridon and near to the village of Gairloch. These beaches are reached on foot at the end of a long and twisting single track road.
