Painting: Oil, cold wax medium, charcoal, pigment powder and marble dust on archival quality wooden panel
Size: 60 x 45 x 2 cm
This painting has been created using a cold wax medium on a high quality cradled board. It is primarily abstract and is based on a response to landscape, open skies, stained walls and textured surfaces. The image is built up in successive layers of cold wax and oil paint, with the partial erasure and reinstatement of previous colors and details. The cold wax allows for fine marks and incisions to be made with a variety of tools and instruments. The colors are warm and subtle, imbued with a rich patina and a sense of time passing. The final surface is sealed with a burnished layer of translucent cold wax, giving luminosity and depth. I have included photographs take at an oblique angle to provide a closer sense of the surface appearance.
This painting does not require framing and is ready to hang with grey edges
