Original artwork description:

Here I decided the orchid should be on a fairly blank background to allow the texture of the paper to stand out.
On the blooms I used strong colours, good contrast to capture the certain quality that flower petals have. Tricky on this paper, but nice when it works out.
Acrylic colour on handmade Thai mulberry paper (kada sa), deckled edge, 10x 13.5 inches, 29 x 34 cm.
The paper I use is a traditional mulberry paper handmade in Thailand. It is a thick parchment type paper, strong yet pliable. I have the paper made to this size to get the deckled edges which adds to the textural effect.
The close up picture is to get a feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting. 3rd picture has me holding the painting for perspective.
Thanks Siam for the wonderful photos of your Cattleya orchids!
