Artist's description:

We had been in Cornwall for a wedding over several days and took time out to walk the cliffs and beaches.

This began with the girl's plait. Almost standing like a caryatid, I had an image of Aphrodite. Wet suit and surfboard had to go, so the image got conflated with memories of photos of Marylyn Monroe on the beach.

I enjoyed contrasting the roiling water with the static girl.

Materials used:

Oil paint
