Artist's description:

My step-father, Ray, was the biggest train lover I know. He was like a kid in a candy store whenever he got to visit old steam engines or learn something new about them. He loved trolleys and cable cars, as well. This picture was taken on our last family trip with him, after he was diagnosed with cancer. It was such a special trip for all of us, and I have treasured the snapshot for years. I found it very meaningful and therapeutic to render a drawing from it.

Materials used:

Chalk pastels. This image is archival mounted and matted.

Ray, San Francisco (2015)
