Autumn clings on as winter's grasp touches the mountain tops. The expanse of Rannoch Moor with its mountain backdrop is one of the most spectacular sights in Scotland. The Black Mount, photographed here, is particularly beautiful wearing its winter coat. The moor itself is a huge peat bot, dotted here and there by little lochans and offers little respite for trees to grow. Here a particularly shapely tree poses in front of the Black Mount in the dawn light.
