This painting was made as part of the following project:
As a newcomer and a foreigner in the beautiful, rural, but maybe a little sleepy, French village of Queaux, it was difficult to think of a way I could help when our newly elected and inspirational Maire asked us all to do something to ‘redynamiser’ the village. Then I had the idea that as an artist the best way I could contribute was to paint something in the village everyday and share it on Facebook. In my small way a step towards helping bring the many charms of Queaux to the attention of the wider world.
These paintings were made every day for a year, ‘en plein air’ or in my studio in the village directly from notes taken on walks & drives around the commune of Queaux (depending on the weather conditions on the day). They were then shown all together in the village.
Each painting is on heavy watercolour paper and may include artists quality watercolour paint , acrylic, ink, pencil, collage & oil pastel.
The backs of the paintings may have marks where they were hung as part of the exhibition, there maybe a few marks around the edges of the works, these are all part of the authenticity of the works as part of the project. Each work is dated, and signed on the front and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. They are sold unframed and will be sent free postage in a hardback envelope. I recommend that they are framed behind glass with a card Mat for protection (they fit happily into standard frames from ‘The Range’ store if you are trying to keep cost down.)
