Artwork description:

The Quai du Mistral is a windy peninsula leading from an inland sea to Séte in S.W.France known as 'The Venice of Languadoc'. Famous for a genre film made in the 1950s about the community of fishermen who live there, many of them in a shanty town of huts and shacks on the water's edge. It is a maze of discarded fishing nets hanging from ancient posts and the detritus of a small fishing village that, unlike many mediterranean fishing ports, has an air of continued usage - messy but unadorned honesty.

Materials used:

Paper, graphite, watercolours, gouache, gum arabic
