When I was young I lived on a housing estate backing on to farmland. One of the fields each year would be set with barley. The edges were liberally sprinkled with poppies. It is a lovely warm memory.
This painting was completed alla prima in Daler Rowney Oil paints on gallery wrapped canvas. The main background is painted in with a brush, the poppies added loosely with a pallette knife.
The whole surface was then spattered with red green and yellow paint evocative of the shifting patterns of light and bringing life to the piece
It is painted on the sides to match and is ready to hang.
