I painted this picture on the spur of the moment when the colours in a vase of tulips inspired me. Rather than painting the full vase I chose to paint one which had fallen on its side alone because something about the loneliness of the sight struck a deep emotional chord with me and I wanted to convey that emotion in the simple piece.
Oil paint, linseed oil, dammar varnish, MDF, cotton, rabbit skin glue, gesso.
