Painted on to gold metal leaf, 23 carat gold on the detail and moon .using acrylics and powder pigments. The phoenix is the Japanese symbol for perseverance, out of the fires ashes flies the phoenix full of hope and beauty. I love the thought of a kimono decorated on the lining to protect the wearer. inspired by all things Japanese as usual, this is painted on canvas on board then mounted onto a black frame.
