Elliott colorful pheasant (Syrmaticus ellioti) -obitaet in eastern China south of the Yangtze and lives there in the subtropical forests and secondary habitats, as well as in the cultural landscape. The specific epithet is given in honor of the American ornithologist Daniel Giraud Elliot.
