Oil on canvas rendered with palette knives, inspired by the ever-changing moods of the Ottawa River in Ontario. This work explores the idea of reflection. Sometimes, the river is so placid, so still, the colors from the landscape seem to bleed into the water, staining it with brilliant hues. As the pools of water reflect back the change of the seasons, so too they trace the transformation of my psyche. Both an illusion of physical reality and an emotional mirror, these reflections invite to engage in personal contemplation alongside meditation on nature. This work explores not only the elusive depths of the river, but also that of our own souls.
Canvas, oil paint, palette knives, black wooden floating frame.
