Peonies are a beautiful flower that unfurl and last such a short time that they are, it appears to me in continuous movement. As an ex-dance teacher, movement was an integral part of my life. Today it's often in the way I paint that movement continues to be a part of me: with big sweeping arm movements and connecting the brush to canvas frequently in curves. Colour is also pivotal. Pink a striking favourite for its vibrancy and the sheer joy of it. A series of flowers were created for an exhibition in Wellington, New Zealand, choosing favourite flowers - bold, bright and meaningful.
