This painting is the first in a series that I plan to do this year called 'The peekaboo collection'.
Each painting will feature a wild animal and an obstacle that it is hiding behind, most often a tree.
The zebra featured in this painting really caught my eye as I like his very fluffy ears and love the pattern of stripes on his face. You will notice that it is the middle ground of this painting that has the most detail. This is deliberate on my part as I really wanted to present the vitality of the animal, but also show their vulnerability by partially hiding them from the viewer. What they hide behind is of little importance beyond showing that they are not prepared to be out in the open. I will be adding to this collection as they year goes on so look out for more in the near future. Some will also have an element of humour due to the expression or position of the animals.
