Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

Raised bogs are a distinctive and characteristic feature of the landscape of the midlands of Ireland in which they are concentrated. The bogs are discreet, raised, dome-shaped masses of peat occupying former lakes or shallow depressions where the wild deer - the ancient Irish elks are said to have roamed some 10,500 years before.
