Original artwork description
PAYSAGE 5 is part of the artist's series PERTE DE MONDE (Loss of World). In this project, Sophie Roy created a series of hybrid paintings that explore our relationship to the world. For the artist, “perte de monde” (loss of world) has several meanings. This may refer to this impression that the world is slipping away from us, which is reflected, among other things, in the concern and sense of powerlessness we feel about the various threats to our planet and its inhabitants. “Perte de monde” also evokes the fact that we are spending less and less time in the real world in favor of the virtual world of screens. Does this have an impact on the quality of our relationship to the world?
