Working with thin glazes I build up layers using some rehearsed and some unrehearsed, almost accidental marks, which push and pull against each other. The stark white background emanates into the compositions confusing the distinction between positive and negative space. The motif becomes a tool to reign in this disorder turning what may seem chaotic into something quite thought out and deliberate.
